Why a Web Presence is Important for your Business

Many business owners still refuse to embrace the web as what it really is - a mean, lean, lead-generating machine. Or at least it could be, if you gave it a chance. A third of the world's population is now online, much of that population relying on the internet for their everyday needs. If people need some electrical work doing, they're much likely to search on the internet for 'electrical contractor in Lincoln', than to pickup the phone book and start sifting through pages and pages of phone numbers - there is a lot more to be said on this topic, for example much of the younger generation would prefer to send an email rather than pickup the phone. If you're not on the internet, they won't be able to do so and you will lose their business (or rather, give it to one of your competitors).

Websites don't have to be expensive, you can get a relatively feature-rich package from any one of the thousands of web developing freelancers/companies in the UK for less than £500 (and in a lot of cases, a lot less than £500). By feature-rich, I mean a clean professional design to support your brand, information about your business, contact details, contact forms, email accounts and so on.

One area you should spend some money on, should you finally decide to get a website is 'SEO'. SEO, or search engine optimization is the process of giving your site the best chance of ranking highly for your chosen terms in search engines - e.g. you might have an SEO campaign to rank #1 in Google for the phrase 'electrical contractor in Lincoln', instead of one of your competitors.

This was only ever meant to be a brief article on why you should consider a website for your business and hopefully it's done just that for a lot of you!
