Wind Power in the EU to Triple by 2020

The European Wind Energy Association has published scenarios for on and offshore wind power deployment in the EU, ahead of the European Commission's Energy Roadmap 2050, due to be published this fall.

Wind power is set to more than triple it's current output by 2020, with plans in place to increase wind power generation collectively accross the EU from 182 TWh to 581TWh, which would be 15.7% of the total demand, creating jobs and protecting ourselves from future fossil fuel price-hikes in the future.

For Britain, this means our wind power generation will have increased five-fold, catering for 19% of our total energy requirements in 2020.
